Well, it comes to a head today. The one place that I was desperate to work and get an internship - all at my own expense (which has involved numerous months of saving) - has been dashed by it seeming to be impractiacal by the staff at WaterBrook Multnomah. Gutted is not the word that can discribe how I am feeling right now.
I received the email at 15.35, meaning to was 08.35 in Colorado. Hardly has their day begun, and mine is crashing down. I was so excited at the prospect of going. I had sent in my application, along with my cv, via email on Saturday. My senior lecturer had sent in her email of what would be required of me in exchange for the course credit. But this was still deemed as the wrong employer for me, as they are unable to grant visa sponsorship. They are part of the biggest publishing house in the world - I am amzed.
Maybe writing this minutes after getting the bad news is not the right thing to do. But I can't help myself. I really wanted to work there. I could have found a way to get the sponsorship through a company like CCUSA. But I guess there isn't much point now. I wonder if I can still go to my fall back of Northern Illinois University Press. Or failing that, somewhere in London - which would probably end up costing me just as much!
I suddenly don't want to do anything now. No reading, no searching for Case Studies. I just want to go into a dark corner and wish it was a different answer. The worst thing is, she knew where I lived and where I would be coming from to do the intership. So for her to turn around and say no makes it feel like I was being set up for disappointment. Pants.

Hugs and kisses to you Ceri. Hope you are ok. This is such a big disappointment, but sometimes things like this happen and make us stronger in the long run. It just means there will be another opportunity out there for you. x- miss.surrey November 6, 2011 at 2:15 PM
Thanks Safira. Gutted to begin with, but am still looking. Decided to try the UK again - so you never know, I might be coming to stay with you for a couple of weeks..... :)
