We made it safely to the States! The kiddos were (mostly) very well behaved on the plane. And a lot of passengers mentioned that they were surprised that they weren't heard. I woke up at 5am, the kiddos at 5.20am. The taxi arrived at 6am, and there was no traffic whatsoever to Manchester on a Friday. We ended up at Terminal 2 two hours before we could even check-in, but luckily they allowed us to check-in at 8.15, so we only had to hang around the check-in desks for 75 minutes, rather than 120 *phew*

We then hung around the wonder gates for what seemed like forever. But there was a play area that the girl and boy did not want to leave. We then headed for the gate and away we went. It was 7 hours something to Washington, Dulles - we landed at 3.05pm local time (I think it is 5 hours behind BST). By the time we got through customs and walked, pretty much the whole length of the airport, we got to gate D 23 just two minutes before they let our section onto the plane - and we took off at 4.55pm local time!

The boy feel asleep during take off. When he woke up to use the bathroom during the flight, he still had his sweet in his mouth (the one you take to stop your ears from hurting - otherwise they would not of had sweets). Then he went straight back to sleep, and I had to carry him to baggage when we landed. Fortunately, a lovely American helped us with our bags, as the girl was prepared to pull hers & the boys Trunkie's whilst I pulled my carry-on.

The girl finally fell asleep in Laney's car, about 7.30pm local time (we are currently 6 hours behind BST) - she was awake for roughly 21 hours!!

All I can say is - it is HOT! I know this is more to do with the humidity, but we were all in jeans. Really should have thought that through a little bit more. Oh well.

But I finally got to meet Erika and Natalie, their husbands and children. And Gretch's boys. It is an amazing feeling, finally getting to meet people that you have been talking to for years. I have know Erika & Jeremy before I had the girl. Before I was even pregnant with the girl. It has been a long time coming. Have to give some credit to MySpace for this. And FaceBook for the meeting everyone else.

They have been so lovely, taking us to so many places - and we have only been here four days so far. We have been to two water parks - Mandeville Lakefront and James Lavigne Park; Northlake Nature Centre; Waveland Beach, MS on the Gulf of Mexico; Cafe du Monde in New Orleans; and we had the pleasure of joining the family Memorial Day bbq.

Just waiting for the Wilcox-Roberts crew to arrive, and discover something new again this evening. And we are all booked for a swamp tour on Friday, and the plan is to visit an alligator ranch on Thursday. I think Sunday is going to come all too soon. But when we land on the Monday morning, the girl will have turned 6 somewhere across the Atlantic.

Good times, good times.
